Gokin Solar is pleased to announce its membership in the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI), the first sustainability assurance scheme dedicated specifically to the solar PV sector.
Developed by SolarPower Europe and Solar Energy UK, the SSI brings together manufacturers, developers, investors and civil-society organisations to promote responsible, transparent, and ethical solar supply chains worldwide.
By becoming a member of the SSI, Gokin Solar reinforces its commitment to advancing best practice in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance — supporting responsible production and traceability from raw materials to finished modules.
“Joining the Solar Stewardship Initiative marks a milestone in our sustainability journey,” said Allen Xu, Board Director and Head of Overseas Affairs at Gokin Solar. “As solar becomes the backbone of Europe’s energy future, transparency and ethics across the value chain are no longer optional — they’re essential.”

Why this matters now
Europe’s solar market continues to grow at an impressive pace, with total installed capacity rising from about 272 GW in 2023 to 338 GW in 2024, and solar now generating nearly 20% of the EU’s electricity — surpassing all other energy sources in June 2025. Yet as growth stabilises after years of rapid expansion, the focus is shifting from volume to value and responsibility.
This is where Gokin Solar aims to make a real difference. As part of the Solar Stewardship Initiative, Gokin is contributing to a solar value chain that is transparent, ethical, and traceable — ensuring that Europe’s clean-energy transition delivers not only more solar power, but better solar power.
What Gokin Solar will do as an SSI member
Through its participation in the SSI, Gokin Solar will:
Support implementation of the SSI ESG Standard, which covers supply-chain traceability, human and labour rights, environmental impact, and governance.
Work towards alignment with the SSI Supply Chain Traceability Standard, promoting greater visibility from materials to modules.
Collaborate with the broader SSI community — including manufacturers, auditors, NGOs and investors — to help advance best practices and benchmark performance.

Driving a responsible energy transition
As Europe accelerates its clean-energy transition, solar plays a central role. For Gokin Solar, joining the SSI underlines a clear pledge: growth must be sustainable, ethical, and transparent. The company is proud to contribute to a solar-powered future that is both clean and fair.
About the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI)
The Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) is the supply chain sustainability assurance scheme dedicated to the needs of solar PV. Designed as a multi-stakeholder initiative, the SSI gathers companies from across the global solar value chain, as well as independent ESG actors, civil society, and the international finance community. Working with all relevant stakeholders, the SSI fosters responsible production, sourcing, and stewardship of solar materials.
